NOTE FROM MELISSA

Dear Melissa,

Under the gun! I've been under deadline the last month putting the finishing touches on my newest how-to, The Manual for Life Success. I'm pleased to say it is the start of a series and an excellent comprehensive view and jump start for individuals ready to start living by design instead of by default. Packed with insights, shortcut exercises, affirmations and much more, it is truly a step by step guide to having it all!

Inspiring Moments! I am heading to Charlotte today to be the keynote address at the WITHIT conference. I am excited to be addressing an audience of home furnishings industry professionals and to provide both a dynamic keynote and a breakout that will inspire and ignite action and change. The breakout is in workshop style and will allow participants a chance to truly get the ball rolling by creating their own mini vision boards. Too often I attend events like this and it is a great presentation but there is no implementation. Action is essential for success!

Time to recharge! I am playing a bit of hooky following the conference and heading not home, but instead up to Highlands, NC to my favorite bed and breakfast and then to spend the weekend with a client and friend. She has managed to design her signature life and I'm delighted to report that my design of her mountain retreat was a catalyst! Working on your interior environment truly can lead to a redesign of your interior self and your priorities.

Live well and by design,
MG

BUSINESS BUILDING BLOCKS

Shortcut to Perfection

When I was recently taping my book, Celebrate Your Life! The Art of Celebrating Every Day, for audio release, I realized that reading aloud is singularly the most effective way to proof any document. This is particularly true if you are proofing your own work, a near impossible task! We tend to read what we have written despite what is actually appearing on the page and hence we will miss subtle mistakes in spelling and punctuation. Reading aloud forces us to pay attention to spelling and punctuation. I have also found that while the written word can be differently constructed, often reading aloud will point out weak areas that are unclear or word choices that are complex and convoluted and don't need to be. Having just released my manual The Manual for Life Success, I put it through the same rigorous testing and am delighted with the result.

ARCHITECTING YOUR LIFE

Good Enough Counts

At our bimonthly Dining Divas gathering we each brought a dish, intriguing conversation, and a life of fascinating experiences and amusing anecdotes to share. It was tough organizing it this time though. It seems we are all accustomed to agendas, structure, and themes and without them are unsure and can flounder. Ironically, when these are imposed where they don't belong, we'll buck them and do our own thing anyway. My premise with the group was only to have an easy get together to share food, drink, and comradery. One participant requested a theme (I was stymied!) so I came up with Mexican. The irony kicked in when the host, new to our group, asked if there was a theme, I shared what had been established, and she said that didn't suit and did her own thing! I realized that corralling a group of successful, head strong, independent women is akin to herding cats (likely lionesses) and best to just let the chips fall where they may. It was even funnier when the same host attempted to establish an agenda in the first few minutes and was promptly disregarded. In mere moments we were each engrossed in conversations of our own, soon to lose track of time and enjoy the evening as intended with food, drink, and comradery! Lesson learned, leave the rules by the wayside, the themes for parties, and instead keep it simple and fun. Perfect is overrated, good enough counts.

BOOKS FOR BUSINESS SUCCESS

The Intentional Millionaire: Winning the Wealth Game With Spirit, Fran Harris

With the Wealth Playbook and Wealth Training Camp, there is a lot of action packed into this little green book. Harris uses the metaphor of basketball as she was on the original WNBA team and coaches young kids in their dreams of athletic stardom even today. She shares with the reader the types of money mindsets, the limitations in each and how to create your own road to wealth and prosperity. Quizzes abound to keep you on track and honest with your progress. This is only one step in a multi-faceted plan and certainly a viable way to build her funnel to get you into the boot camps and more. Impowermentals of wealth are her USP, clever and well detailed for any novice to pursue. The only shortcut is in changing your belief system . . . do it now.

DINNER AND A MOVIE

Mitra
- Atlanta, GA

Located conveniently in the Midtown theatre district, this Latin fusion contemporary restaurant comes to us from the creator of Sia in Duluth. With Chef Gerardo Ramos, Mexican native, at the helm, we are treated to such mouthwatering specialties as pomegranate glazed organic salmon and quinoa, sea scallop ceviche with corn and avocado, and shrimp and tomato basil grilled arepa to name but a few. The atmosphere is cozy and colorful and weekend nights offer live music. It is another tasty addition to Atlanta's global cuisine.

"Starter for 10" - James McAvoy, Rebecca Hall, Alice Eve, Benedice Cumberbatch, Dominic Cooper
5 Stars

I love Brit humor anyway and their romances always feel much more down to earth and real to me than the Hollywood beautiful people stuff. This is refreshing perhaps because it had so many new faces to me, and the “ugly duckling” wins in it. She is far from ugly but when you stack up a tall, slim brunette with political views, and activist tendencies against a gorgeous, buxom, bright blond with no such ambitions and instead dreams of being an actress, well you get the picture. It is a valuable lesson in friendships, forgiveness, and following your heart, (not other parts South!) As long as our lead can remember he has wanted to be on University Quiz Show, he gets a scholarship and leaves his pals by the wayside and heads off to get a real education. The hilarity is complete with Tarts and Vicars parties, impossible room mates, and best friends that can be real cads. Check this one out!
