Rustic Elegance Reigns
The generous stone fireplace provides a true hearth for this home. The mantel is adorned with a whimsical red rooster, and an original multihued landscape. The lush textures of the gold chenille sofa, the crimson dotted club chair, and the striped woven easy chair all invite you to curl up with a good book or plop down for a relaxed afternoon in front of the fire. A terrific curved front, sliding door cabinet takes one wall for the television and display of mountain ceramics and glass. The walls in a refreshing sage complement the wide plank cherry floors.

About the Client
With friends vacation homes in the area, my client wanted to find a weekend getaway. This three bedroom, two bath home was a great layout, but required a real face lift. With new flooring, all new wall colors, all baths and the kitchen completely gutted and redone, and the horrendous popcorn ceilings scraped down, the vision for a place to entertain friends and get away from Atlanta began to show through. We established the color scheme based on a couple of antique quilts, and moved immediately into rug choices, with a family of Soumak and Nourmak weaves in lively yellow golds and crimsons.
