In The Garden Living
With a motif of gardening and butterflies this porch beckons to the visitor to relax and join in the easy conversation. It serves as the entrance to this weekend getaway. The scheme of muted golds, sage greens, and hints of terracotta and persimmon carry throughout the house. A collection of bird houses is a fitting accent. The trout is the only nod to traditional mountain décor the client permitted, but it had a sense of humor and suited the feeling created.
About the Client
With friends vacation homes in the area, my client wanted to find a weekend getaway. This three bedroom, two bath home was a great layout, but required a real face lift. With new flooring, all new wall colors, all baths and the kitchen completely gutted and redone, and the horrendous popcorn ceilings scraped down, the vision for a place to entertain friends and get away from Atlanta began to show through. We established the color scheme based on a couple of antique quilts, and moved immediately into rug choices, with a family of Soumak and Nourmak weaves in lively yellow golds and crimsons.
Rave Review:
"Having worked with Melissa for a couple of years on my in town home, I didn't think twice about having her in on the ground floor level of my weekend getaway. What an incredible transformation! She has made it very difficult to want to even go back to the city on Sunday night. This is an awesome retreat, I regularly have friends and family in and everyone can't get over how comfortable, personal, and spectacular it is. She took care of all contracting, flooring installation, color scheme, lighting fixtures (my favorites), all furnishing selections, including judicious use of pieces I had in the basement of my Atlanta home. Any challenges that have arisen she has handled professionally and with great care."
